Gluten-Free Does Not Mean Flavor Free
As I mentioned before, Aldi stores have a gluten-free line called liveGfree. We tried another of their products, the chicken nuggets because we wanted to expand our repertoire of meals. The product had three different methods you could use to heat them, microwave, fryer and oven. We chose the oven method. I figured the microwave method would be mushy so I didn't even attempt it. I didn't want to mess with frying so, that left the oven. We waited in anticipation of getting to eat something akin to fried chicken. Well, just like McNuggets, these were not exactly "fried chicken" and lacked the texture of chicken. The flavor was a bit bland too. Would we buy them again? Probably not, unless there was a new and improved version or we forget we've tried them before.
There are six nuggets in a serving at 140 calories.
Chicken breast with rib meat, water, corn startch, salt
Battered and Breaded with:
Water, rice flour, tapioca dextrin, corn starch, salt, spices, spice extractives (including extractives of paprika and turmeric), garlic powder, onion powder, ground celery, breading set in soybean oil
FYI, if you are baking them, flip during baking to brown both sides or at least improve the texture of both sides.
