Gluten-Free Does Not Mean Flavor Free
We went to Trader Joe's last night and picked up some things, one of which is a list of all the things they carry (nationwide - many of the items are not available at our local store) that are gluten-free. Another was their Garlic Rice Noodle Soup Bowl. This is very portable - you can take it to work with you and prepare without needing a measuring cup for the water. Just empty the packets into the bowl and fill the water to the lower rim (as directed) and microwave. Prepared as directed on package, it is gluten-free and vegan.
However, I did something slightly different. I also added some leftover tilapia into the bowl before I microwaved it.
Easy to use?
Yes. Takes only seconds to prepare and a couple of minutes in the microwave.
Travel well?
Yes, it's dry and easy to carry. You just add water and microwave.
Aesthetic appeal?
Looks like comparable instant soup bowls. Thinking of adding some veggies next time to make it even more appealing.
Taste and texture?
You can taste the garlic and onion and the texture is comparable to other instant rice soup bowls. It's salty, but that's normal for prepared foods. I like very little salt but would still buy this again because of the convenience.
Versatile?
Yes, because you can add other ingredients (like proteins and vegetables) and make it what you want.
Availability?
Available at Trader Joe's.
Overall value and enjoyment?
I enjoyed eating it and was excited to try adding other things to make it a different experience each time.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, because it's tasty, versatile, cheap (99 cents), and easily transportable.
